‘We need a fire station’: Palm City residents urge action after recent brush fires

PALM CITY, Fla (CBS12) — A rural community in Palm City has been left shaken after a series of brush fires burned dangerously close to their homes. The recent fires have spotlighted the lack of a nearby fire station—a critical issue that has many homeowners questioning their safety.

Stuart West and Cobblestone residents report that current response times from Martin County Fire Rescue stretch to about 20 minutes, raising concerns about potential delays during emergencies.

“Before the fire trucks get here, maybe it’s 15-20 minutes at best, and in 15 to 20 minutes, a fire in a home can destroy it,” Cornelius Pameijer, a local resident and Stuart West HOA member told CBS12 News on Friday…
