Deadline extended again for bids on Little Jim’s lease

FORT PIERCE – The deadline for developers to submit their proposals for the long-term lease of the historic Little Jim Bait and Tackle on the North Causeway waterfront has been extended to June 26.

Under the latest timeline, a recommendation awarding the lease to operate the popular food, beverage and merchandise location could come in September, according to the City of Fort Pierce.

The World War II-era Navy guardhouse building has taken on historic significance as a food and entertainment venue. The military conducted training operations on North Hutchinson Island during the war as evidenced by today’s Navy SEAL Museum on Highway A1A, a tribute to the “frogmen” who honed their underwater demolition skills here.
