3 rescued after plane crashes off Florida coast

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (WFLA) — Three people were rescued Sunday night after their plane crashed off Florida’s Atlantic coast.

The Indian River Shores Police Department told federal officials that a single-engine plane crashed about three to four miles offshore, according to a report from NBC affiliate WPTV.

An Indian River County Sheriff’s Office helicopter spotted the crash survivors in the water and guided rescue crews to their location. U.S. Customs and Border Protection crews pulled three people from the water just before 10 p.m.
