The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) proudly introduced the newest member of its crime-fighting family— Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K-9 Dexter, the only ESD dog in the region.
With his extraordinary ability to sniff out hidden electronic devices — from USB drives to cell phones — PSLPD said K-9 Dexter will play a critical role in uncovering digital evidence tied to crimes such as child exploitation and human trafficking. His handler, Detective Andrew Zamfino, is eager to put Dexter’s specialized training to work in the field.
But Dexter’s impact goes beyond investigations. He also provides emotional support to victims of traumatic crimes and to the law enforcement officers who serve alongside him, according to the news release…
