ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Get ready to spot planes over the mangroves — St. Lucie County is taking to the skies next week to stop these bloodsuckers before they hatch.
St. Lucie County’s Mosquito Control District will launch an aerial larviciding operation to target saltmarsh mosquito breeding grounds in the island’s mangrove marshes.
Between June 23 and June 27, weather permitting, a small aircraft will disperse granular larvicide across impoundments stretching from Bear Point Sanctuary to Nettles Island.
