Martin County teens meet for afternoon of fun

STUART – From video games and board games to snacks and hanging out with friends, several teens gather for a weekly event at the local Martin County library, where any teen is welcome to join the fun every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Located at the Blake Library in Stuart, Teen Game Night is a weekly event hosted by the Blake Library (Martin County Library System) where teens can relax and socialize while enjoying snacks and a wide selection of video, board, and card games.

Haley Bernhard, Children’s Library Specialist, explains how the weekly event provides an opportunity for teens in the community to meet up with friends and create a sense of belonging within the space. Not only is it a great way for adolescents to build strong connections with one another, but also to engage with the local library system.

Some of the teens who attended this past Tuesday have been coming since July of last year and have become close friends. This time around, two new kids joined and were immediately welcomed by the group. From chatting and hanging out to playing card games like Cards Against Humanity, everyone seemed to enjoy each other’s company…
