Zora Neale Hurston’s Fort Pierce home saved, but funding needed for its revival

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Famed Harlem Renaissance writer Zora Neale Hurston’s Fort Pierce home is now protected, but its legacy still needs a lifeline.

Officials with the Conservation Fund (TCF) say they bought the house when it was up for sale in fear that it might be demolished or developed.

TCF then transferred the property to the Zora Neale Hurston Florida Education Foundation (ZNHFEF), who say it plans on turning it into a visitor education center…
