Indiantown approves higher staff pay

INDIANTOWN — The Village Council on June 26 approved a new staff salary schedule recommended by Village Manager Taryn Kryzda and developed by a hired consultant to make pay more competitive. Despite the 3-0 vote, two members of the board refused to cast votes at all, saying they needed more time and information.

Kryzda opened the discussion by reminding the council that they’d previously agreed to use a Stuart city contract with Maryland-based Paypoint HR to conduct a salary comparison study.

“This study included a job and salary analysis, a recommended pay plan and a review of positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act,” she explained. “We hadn’t done an analysis of our positions in over five years. The consultants surveyed 25 different government entities and received 15 responses to calculate recommended ranges.”…
