Florida Man Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Pond Outside Sheriff’s Station

A Florida man is facing charges for allegedly crashing into a retention pond right behind a sheriff’s station while driving drunk, authorities said.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said its holiday weekend traffic enforcement initiative “started with a splash” on Wednesday, July 2, when a driver lost control of his pickup truck and drove it into a retention pond. It so happened the pond was right behind the sheriff’s Traffic Division substation in Palm City.

“Deputies didnt have to go far to investigate,” the sheriff’s office said. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Corey Howard of Homestead, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), DUI with property damage, and failure to register a motor vehicle…
