Stuart police investigate overnight car burglaries, firearms stolen

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A public safety alert out of Stuart—where police are investigating a string of overnight vehicle burglaries that they’re calling a ‘crime of opportunity’ with dangerous consequences.

The Stuart Police Department (SPD) says the burglaries happened around 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Officers say all of the burglarized cars were left unlocked in the areas of Dolphin Drive, Madison Avenue, Alamanda Way, SE 9th Street, SE 10th Street, and SE Flamingo Avenue…
