P&Z Commission backs Triangle Farms land use change

FORT PIERCE – The St. Lucie County Planning & Zoning Commission voted unanimously July 17 to recommend the County Commission change the agricultural land use on an 88-acre parcel near the intersection of Midway and Okeechobee Roads to Mixed Used Development despite traffic mitigation concerns expressed by a Port. St. Lucie official.

Senior Planner Irene Szedlmayer introduced the agenda item that evening.

“This is the public hearing for the Triangle Farms proposed future land use map amendment, she said. “They are requesting to change the future land use from Ag-5 to MXD, with specific use activity area policies. The intent of the future land use map amendment is to permit commercial uses, light industrial uses and some limited residential development.”…
