First responders go the extra meow to save kitten in St. Lucie County

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A tiny life was saved Friday morning thanks to the quick actions of first responders in St. Lucie County.

The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) said its crew responded to a 911 call about a kitten trapped in a storm drain. The call came after a bystander heard faint cries coming from beneath the street and alerted authorities.

Firefighter Tristen Trefelner, along with Fort Pierce Police Department Officer Jasmine Mojica, arrived on the scene and worked together to safely retrieve the kitten, according to the news release…
