STUART – A Martin County School District bus driver beat out all the top drivers in the state’s 67 counties to become the 2024/2025 Florida School Bus Driver of the Year, in an annual competition also referred to as the Florida Missing Children’s Day Bus Driver of the Year Award.
Stuart resident Evonne Eicher said the news that she’d been selected for this year’s top school bus driver award came out of left field as she was attending the District’s annual back-to-school transportation kickoff event at Martin County High School on Aug. 1.
“Yes, it was a big surprise for me,” she told the Hometown News afterward. “The news did make me very happy – I never thought I would be driving this long.”…
