FORT PIERCE – The land use attorney representing the owner of 41 acres wedged between Angle and Johnston roads withdrew his client’s application for planned unit development zoning Aug. 5 rather than face a potential denial by the St. Lucie County Commission after nine members of the public and all five commissioners expressed opposition.
Senior Planner Thad Crowe introduced the request simply known as 2098 Johnston Road PUD.
“The property is east of Johnston Road and north of Angle Road,” he said. “It’s in a relatively undeveloped area that has fairly intensive land use categories but in a transition between rural and suburban character. It is on the southern fringe of the Towns, Villages & Countryside Land Use Category, which is oriented toward development in the form of hamlets, villages and towns. To the south, outside of the TVC area, is basically residential suburban, two units per acre. This property has AG-1 and AR-1 Zoning.”…
