STUART – Two different agenda items related to public art proposals helped pack the Martin County Commission Chambers on Aug. 12 with supporters who urged commissioners to continue both funding and supporting such artworks.
The first proposal was for a seven-foot-tall bronze sculpture at the Patio at Palm City Place, and the second a six-by-seven-foot stained-glass mural for the side of the new Manatee Pocket Mooring Field upland facility.
The sculpture was part of the normally non-discussion Consent Agenda that District 1 Commissioner Eileen Vargas had asked to be pulled for debate, while the mural discussion took place later on that same day…
