Man arrested after 3 Chihuahuas rescued, 1 euthanized from severe neglect in Martin Co.

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A swift and coordinated investigation led by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of a man accused of abandoning four elderly Chihuahuas in poor health behind a local business.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said its detectives, animal services,and road patrol deputies took 37-year-old Christopher Alexander into custody during a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office said Alexander was wanted on an active warrant for animal cruelty and abandonment.

The case began when the four dogs were discovered dumped in a commercial yard, visibly neglected and in deteriorating condition. Investigators said they traced the animals back to Alexander, who had reportedly relocated to Texas. Authorities secured a warrant and tracked him down, ultimately leading to his arrest in Martin County…
