Residents fall victim to $7.5 million prize scam as police issue urgent fraud warning

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A scam that sounds too good to be true.

On Thursday, the Stuart Police Department received reports of scammers posing as representatives from Publishers Clearing House who call residents to inform them that they had won a $7.5 million grand prize.

However, to win the “grand prize,” they demand thousands of dollars in fees before you get the million-dollar prize. Police say one victim lost nearly $3,000 after falling victim to the scam…
