MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A convicted child predator who called himself “Jaws” was captured in Dupuis Park after fleeing North Carolina authorities and skipping out on a life sentence.
In a joint operation with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said authorities arrested 39-year-old Joseph Windfelder early Friday morning. Windfelder was wanted in Forsyth County, North Carolina, on charges of sexual battery of a six-year-old child and had failed to appear in court to begin serving a life sentence for that crime.

“This was a dangerous individual who thought he could hide in our community,” said an MCSO spokesperson. “Thanks to the dedication and coordination between agencies, he will now face the consequences of his actions.”…
