St. Lucie County’s growth brings big opportunities for jobs and infrastructure

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — There is a rapid transformation happening in St. Lucie County.

Since 2010, the county’s population has surged by more than 30%, and with that growth comes a pressing need for infrastructure — roads, schools, hospitals, and more. But it’s not just about where people live; it’s also about where they work.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 75,000 of the 120,000 workers who live in St. Lucie County commute outside the county for work. That’s roughly 63% of the local workforce spending hours on the road each day, time away from family and added wear on vehicles…
