St. Lucie County officials have reported the arrest of a man accused of a violent crime spree involving a firearm, sexual assault, and robbery. According to the CBS12 News, 30-year-old Lamar Sholtz was arrested following a collaboration between the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Authorities state that the arrest connects back to a July incident where Sholtz, having arranged to meet the victim, forcefully entered their vehicle and then subsequently threatened and assaulted them at gunpoint.
Detectives say that Sholtz compelled the victim to drive south on A1A before directing them to a remote area where he committed the alleged assault. During the confrontation, Sholtz is reported to have stolen $200 from the victim before instructing them to drive to another location on Seaway Drive, after which he fled on foot. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, specifically led by SLCSO Detective Brady Loupe, managed to successfully locate Sholtz in Highlands County. He was taken into custody without any reported incidents and is currently awaiting trial on the aforementioned charges.
Following an investigation, Sholtz faces multiple felony counts, as WPBF cites, including robbery with a firearm, kidnapping, sexual assault with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
