PORT ST. LUCIE – On Sept. 22, City Council reaffirmed its commitment to restricting new housing development and preserving limited industrial and commercial land, voting unanimously to deny a proposal that would have allowed affordable single-family homes on the 466-acre Lulfs Grove property.
The application to change commercial and industrial land uses to residential had initially come before the Council and the city’s Planning & Zoning Board in early 2024, when the latter recommended denial and the former agreed to send it to the state for analysis prior to a final decision.
