Some streets flooded in Vero Beach after heavy rainfall

VERO BEACH — Heavy, sporadic downpours caused flooding on several roadways in low lying areas on Friday. Motorists should use caution and not attempt to drive down any flooded streets, meteorologists warned.

“Turn around, don’t drown. It will take time for the water to drain (after days and days of rainfall),” said Robert Haley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne. “You don’t want to get trapped in your vehicle. That’s how people die in these flood waters. There’s no way to tell what’s underneath.”
