VERO BEACH – The city’s Planning & Zoning Board unanimously approved a major site plan Oct. 2 for the Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County’s new facility on the Indian River Lagoon, planned to be the first structure built in the Three Corners Recreation & Culture District that will eventually connect both sides of 17th Street.
Principal Planner Cheri Fitzgerald introduced the agenda item that day, tag-teaming the presentation with Planning & Development Director Jason Jeffries.
“The project is the construction of a 10,453 square foot, two-story youth sailing and marine recreation community center building, and Phase 2 is an active recreation park,” she said. “The location is the southeast corner of 17th Street and Indian River Boulevard. The application is a major site plan application, and it does require a public hearing and Planning & Zoning Board approval. The applicant is Youth Sailing Foundation, the owner of the property is the City of Vero Beach and the engineer of record is Schulke, Bittle & Stoddard.”…
