HOBE SOUND – On Monday, Oct. 19, 1925, the Apollo School opened its doors for the first time to students.
Now, exactly 100 years later, a ceremony marking the event was held at the two-room, one-story schoolhouse on 9141 SE Apollo Drive, Hobe Sound.
“It’s been quite a century, hasn’t it,” Kathy Spurgeon, alumnus and president of the Apollo School Foundation, Inc., told more than 100 attending the Sunday afternoon, half-hour ceremony. “(The Apollo School) has and will be an integral part of this neighborhood.”…
