Indian River State College (IRSC) in Fort Pierce, Florida, announced that its Tutoring Center has received Level 1 and Level 2 certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). The CRLA is an organization with over 1,300 members and more than 2,000 certified programs worldwide. It sets standards for learning assistance and tutor training.
The certification process included a peer review. This review confirmed that IRSC’s tutor training program meets CRLA’s standards for tutor selection, training, service, and evaluation. The Tutoring Center offers course-embedded learning assistants, peer tutors, and other tutoring programs. These now follow the practices established by the CRLA.
