STUART — A Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputy injured his hand while arresting a man accused of pulling an ax on him and another deputy on Nov. 3, according to an arrest affidavit.
Robert Herndon Lane, 35, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on an officer/firefighter/EMT; resisting arrest with violence; and obstruction without violence (a misdemeanor) from an incident in the Intracoastal Waterway in Martin County.
The incident happened about 10:52 a.m., Nov. 3 when marine deputies Daniel Hill and James Holloran responded to a call of a disabled sailboat on the Intracoastal Waterway near Marker 14, according to the arrest affidavit.
Deputies found Lane inside the boat which was beached in the mangroves. Lane, who wanted deputies to tow him out of the mangroves, became agitated when deputies declined but offered to have a towing company tow him from that location, according to the arrest affidavit…
