Florida reimburses over $2 million to local sheriffs for immigration enforcement efforts

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Blaise Ingoglia, says Florida’s state government is giving more than $2 million to three Sheriff’s Offices as reimbursement for immigration enforcement efforts.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office were presented with checks during an event at PBSO headquarters on Thursday.

In a speech before the check presentation, Ingoglia talked about Florida’s tough stance on illegal immigration and pointed to a recent joint operation called “Operation Dirtbag” which rounded up 230 illegal immigrants. Ingoglia says many of them were sex offenders…
