Winter reading challenge offers sweet rewards for young bookworms

STUART — The Martin County Library System, in partnership with Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc. and Culver’s, is launching its annual Winter Reading Challenge for children. The challenge runs from Nov. 22 through Jan. 4, 2026, offering young readers a fun way to stay engaged over winter break while earning exciting prizes.

Children who participate can earn rewards based on the number of books they read. Kids who read five books will receive a Culver’s Frozen Custard treat, while those who complete ten books will be rewarded with a Culver’s Kids’ Meal and a book. The prize books are suitable for children ages 12 and younger.

To track their progress, participants can pick up a special Winter Reading Challenge bookmark at any Martin County library. The bookmark provides space to record each book as it is completed, helping children stay motivated throughout the challenge. For tech-savvy readers, the library also offers digital tracking through the Beanstack website or mobile app, making it easy to log books and monitor progress online…
