VERO BEACH — On Dec. 13, Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church in Vero Beach will present its annual Christmas cantata, a cherished tradition that has been uniting the community through music for over two decades. Under the direction of Dr. Marcos Daniel Flores, the church’s Director of Worship Arts, this year’s performances are scheduled for 4:30 and 7 p.m.
A cantata is a medium-length narrative piece of music for voices with instrumental accompaniment, typically featuring solos, chorus, and orchestra. This year’s program will showcase a semi-classical arrangement of familiar music, including sections of Handel’s “Messiah” and Mozart’s “Gloria.” The audience will be invited to participate in a medley of Christmas carols, enhancing the communal spirit of the event.
