HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital answers demand for maternity services on Treasure Coast

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Expectant mothers on the Treasure Coast are getting an upgrade as HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital revealed renovations to its Women’s Services Department. The need for these services has never been higher, as the Treasure Coast only has four hospitals providing labor and delivery services, a critical need following the closure of Martin County’s only delivery rooms in April.

CEO Eric Goldman explained that the hospital’s rapid growth demands these new facilities. “We could look at it as we’re the only level three NICU in the area, and people need to come to us. And so, what does it matter? But that’s not who we are as a hospital or as a company. And so, we want to make sure that we’re providing the best possible services in the best possible way,” Goldman said.

HCA Florida Lawnwood is one of only four hospitals in the region to provide labor and delivery services. The Women’s Services Director, Jami Friend, highlighted the impact of the updates on the patient experience. “I really like that the loudest thing in this room is going to be the baby. It’s really providing a calming atmosphere, and it’s going to make mom, dad baby relaxed and at ease while they’re learning all the education,” Friend shared…
