St. Lucie County Residents Invited to Explore Local Nature Preserves Through Guided Outdoor Programs in Early 2026

St. Lucie County is inviting residents and visitors to explore its natural areas in early 2026 through a series of guided hikes and outdoor programs. The Environmental Resources Department will offer its Guided Nature Program series, which introduces participants to more than 11,000 acres of protected land in the county. The events are open to individuals and families and are led by experienced naturalists.

The program begins on Thursday, January 1, 2026, with the Annual New Year’s Day Hike at D.J. Wilcox Preserve from 9 to 11 a.m. This event provides an opportunity to spend time outdoors at the start of the year.

On Saturday, January 3, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., the Reconnection Hike at Richard E. Becker Preserve will focus on restoration projects and their effects on river habitats. On Sunday, January 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Wolf Moon Hike at Teague Hammock Preserve will allow participants to walk trails by moonlight during the first full moon of the year…
