VERO BEACH — As of Thursday, Dec. 4, Anthony’s Ladies Apparel has collected about 5,468.54 pounds of plastic over the course of several years to be recycled and repurposed.
The Vero Beach-based women’s wear store began collecting the plastic wrap that comes with every packaged article of clothing brought in through shipment for the W.R.A.P. Recycling Program, in partnership with Coastal Connections, a local nonprofit specializing in sea turtle rescues, beach cleanups, plastic recycling and marine conservation.
“When I came to the store, they had this plastic recycling program already in place. It was a little slow-going, but I really started finding ways that we could capitalize on this plastic recycling by asking our ladies to bring their plastic in when they come in, and by bringing our own personal plastics from home that we could recycle,” said Cindy Hyatt, store manager for Anthony’s…
