Frost advisory in effect with chilly start to the new year

West Palm Beach, FLA. (WPEC) — South Florida is starting the new year on a cold note, with a Frost Advisory in effect until 9 am for the Lake Okeechobee region and communities east of I-95. Clear skies, calm winds, and very dry air have allowed temperatures to drop low enough for frost to form in some areas.

The advisory includes inland Palm Beach, Martin, Indian River, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. Patchy frost may also briefly develop closer to the coast. Frost can damage sensitive plants, so take precautions with plants and pets.
