WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — It’s raining reptiles in South Florida, and state officials want you to grab a pillowcase and join the “iguana patrol.”
On Friday, the FWC issued Executive Order 26-03, a temporary rule allowing residents to collect the stunned reptiles without a formal permit.
According to FWC, the move was triggered by upcoming cold temperatures, causing lizards to enter a state of torpor, where they lose muscle control and fall from trees.
Where and when to help
The public can drop off the cold-stunned iguanas at five Florida Fish and Wildlife locations from Sunday (9 a.m. to Noon) and Monday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)…
