Jeep tears through hedges, fence and pool area, killing 65-year-old woman in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A crash in Fort Pierce claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman when a Jeep veered off the road and crashed into her and a nearby residential pool area, leaving her trapped beneath the vehicle.

The Fort Pierce Police Department said that officers responded to the 1600 block of Laurel Leaf Lane around 2:10 p.m. in response to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

When officers arrived on scene, they reported that a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 38-year-old woman, veered off the roadway, crashing through hedges and fencing before entering a pool area…
