OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — With State Road 710 under renewed scrutiny following several recent deadly crashes, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers that going too slow can be just as dangerous as speeding.
SR 710, a two-lane rural roadway that connects Okeechobee County to Martin County, has been the site of multiple fatal crashes in recent months. Local leaders, including the Martin County Sheriff, have previously called the highway a “death trap” and urged the state to speed up plans to widen the road.
