American Airlines lands first jet at Vero Beach Regional Airport

VERO BEACH – A milestone happened on Feb. 12 when the first American Airlines jet touched down on Feb. 12 at Vero Beach Regional Airport after departure from Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, N.C.

American Eagle Flight 5650, a CRJ-900 regional jet, landed at the municipal airport, with 70 passengers disembarking at about 11:21 a.m. It left Vero Beach soon after with 47 passengers to Charlotte.

“Vero Beach Regional Airport is excited to welcome American Airlines to Vero Beach,” Todd Scher, airport director, said in an email. “American’s daily flights to their Charlotte, North Caroline hub provides enhanced travel options for Treasure Coast residents flying from their hometown airport.”…
