Cat hit by car darts into deputy’s SUV spare tire compartment, prompting rescue

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Things got a little hairy for a cat after it was hit by a car and hid inside a patrol vehicle’s wheel compartment, leading to a daring rescue on a busy roadway, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office says.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, a cat was hit by a car and ran away. Looking for a safe place to hide, the cat hid under a Sergeant patrol vehicle and climbed into the spare tire compartment.

The sheriff’s office says despite the roadside chaos, Sergeant Crystal Nash, Animal Control Officer Shannon McGee and Community Service Aide Robin Hurley went in for the rescue…
