Proposed slaughterhouse near Lake Okeechobee raises environmental concerns in Martin Co.

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A proposed slaughterhouse in western Martin County is raising environmental and regulatory concerns due to its proximity to Lake Okeechobee and other sensitive water resources.

The project, known as the Florida Grassfed Animal Processing Facility, would be built within Chancey Bay Ranch at 8401 SW Conners Highway, according to county presentation materials.
