ST. LUCIE — The opening night of the St. Lucie County Fair saw heavy downpours, but patrons still came out to enjoy the rides and rodeo. Flooding occurred on Kings Highway and Okeechobee Roads, though it subsided within a few hours.
Families arrived in large numbers, with children enjoying the carnival rides such as the Ferris wheel and bumper cars. Adults headed to the rodeo arena, where the atmosphere was filled with anticipation and the smell of damp soil after the rain.
