County Commission majority awards new airport leases

FORT PIERCE – The St. Lucie County Commission majority voted March 3 to award a Fort Lauderdale firm leases on several parcels at the Treasure Coast International Airport despite the fact that some commissioners believed they’d given their consensus in February to start the bidding process all over.

Much of the fracture between the Board majority and the two dissenters – James Clasby and Cathy Townsend – resulted from the presentation of new information by staff since their Feb. 10 informal meeting and the fact that a previous bid respondent had withdrawn since the last request for proposals was issued.
