VERO BEACH – The City Council voted unanimously Feb. 24 to approve huge USA letters for the utility plant silos near the Vero Beach Airport to serve as a patriotic welcome to Blue Angels pilots and other participants flying in for the 2025 Vero Beach Air Show, as well as a tribute to the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States.
Vice-Mayor Linda Moore introduced the agenda item that morning before handing off the presentation to Water & Sewer Department Director Robert Bolton.
“We started this process a few months ago,” she said. “Rob Bolton approached me asking if I could get quotes from artists to paint USA letters on these silos at the wastewater treatment plant on the corner of Aviation and U.S. 1. When the Blue Angels come for the 250-year anniversary, they will fly right past these silos. I thought it was a really super-cool project. Brooke Malone designed these letters.”…
