Oak tree crashes through truck, strikes driver on head in Palm City

PALM CITY — A driver was struck in the head by a falling oak tree while driving on a scenic route in Palm City.

The Toyota Tacoma was traveling along the Martin Grade Scenic Highway. This is a well-known local “tree tunnel” with multiple trees lining both sides of the road.

The truck was traveling westbound on Martin Highway near Salah Drive when strong wind gusts toppled a rotted oak tree, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. The tree crashed through the windshield and struck the driver on the side of the head…
