City commissioners cautiously settle contract impasse

FORT PIERCE – City administration must find $34,000 over what’s in the 2025 budget for Teamster general employees’ wages to pay for a contract settlement approved by the Fort Pierce City Commission Thursday.

The commission chose the middle ground to settle a contract wage impasse, but not without ramifications for its already-approved 2025 budget.

After several motions that failed to get seconded, commissioners agreed to giving union members a 5 percent raise or a $1.20 hourly pay increase, whichever is more, plus a 5 percent increase in each of the seniority scale pay steps…
