Aldi draws big crowds for Vero Beach grand opening

VERO BEACH — Shoppers turned out in force for the grand opening of Aldi in Vero Beach on March 19, packing the parking lot and forming a line that stretched around the corner of the building. To manage the crowd, staff let customers enter as others exited, limiting how many people could shop inside at one time. Customers also received an Aldi shopping bag upon arrival.

The new Aldi replaced the former Winn-Dixie at 2950 Ninth St. SW (Oslo Road) in Vero Beach.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony lasted about 10 minutes, according to one visitor and was kept brief to move hundreds of people into the store quickly. A few dignitaries and store managers attended. The store opened at 8:45 a.m…
