FORT PIERCE – The St. Lucie County Commission paved the way for greater development near the fairgrounds when its majority adopted the Mixed Use Development Future Land Use March 17 for 89 acres near the confluence of Okeechobee, Midway and Shinn roads.
Planner Irene Szedimayer provided an overview of the request that day from a representative of property owner Dean Dekker.
“This is the adoption public hearing for Triangle Farms Future Land Use map amendment from Ag-5 to MXD with sub-area policies,” she said. “There’s large-lot agricultural residential to the southwest, but the surrounding area is still largely rural. To the southeast of the fairgrounds, we have the Wylder residential development, and Oak Ridge Estates is about three miles to the south. The property is in the Urban Services Boundary, [which] was expanded a couple of years ago.”…
