JENSEN BEACH, Fla. — A West Palm Beach man accused of robbing a Chase Bank in Jensen Beach got away with more than $22,000 before deputies stopped his SUV on Interstate 95, according to a newly released arrest report.
Martin County investigators say Gregory Lee Kilgore, 63, robbed the Chase branch at 2998 N.W. Federal Highway on April 11, taking $22,050 in cash before leaving in a black Jeep Compass. Deputies later stopped a Jeep matching the description near the 95-mile marker on southbound I-95.
The arrest report adds new detail about what happened inside the bank. Investigators say Kilgore approached a teller while holding a cellphone up to his face, which the teller believed he was using to conceal part of his appearance. The teller told deputies Kilgore said, “Ma’am this is a robbery,” ordered her to hand over money from her drawers and warned her not to hit the button under the counter.
