Racial slurs found scrawled on Pioneer Park chalkboard sign; police investigating

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Port St. Lucie police are investigating after racial slurs were found scrawled at Pioneer Park on Sunday.

The incident is being reviewed by the Port St. Lucie Police Department’s park unit, officials said.

The sign, which was reportedly installed by the city, is designed as a chalkboard and is provided with chalk for public use. Because of this setup, police noted that expressions written on the board are generally considered a form of free expression…
