A Florida man is facing charges for allegedly wielding a tiki torch and samurai sword to start multiple fires to vehicles and a coastal nature preserve, authorities said.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a “disturbing series of events that caused alarm” late Wednesday night along Jensen Beach Boulevard and NW Green River Parkway. Witnesses initially reported seeing a man walking toward U.S. 1 carrying a lit torch. As he walked along, he allegedly used the torch to ignite multiple fires.
