Kotek challenges new Medicaid work reporting requirements, warns of coverage loss

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Oregon Governor Tina Kotek is leading a group of governors across the country to challenge a new Medicaid mandate under the Trump administration – warning some eligible patients could lose health care coverage.

On Friday, Governor Kotek sent a letter, joined by a coalition of other governors including those representing Washington, New York, Michigan, Maine and New Mexico, calling on the Trump administration to stop forcing states into “an unworkable rollout of Medicaid requirements.”

The new requirements were passed under House Resolution 1, also known as the Big Beautiful Bill that was championed by President Donald Trump.
